Trauma-Informed Coaching & Leadership

Create Safe Space, Lead with Awareness

“Trauma-informed practice isn’t about fixing others. It’s about knowing how to stay present, grounded, and effective especially when things get messy. The real transformation begins in how we show up.”
– Paul Kelly, Founder of PKG Academy & Training

Many people carry unseen wounds and often, so do the teams and communities we work with. In coaching, leadership, and helping professions, it’s no longer enough to simply "manage" behaviour or "motivate" performance. We must learn to recognise the signs of trauma, regulate our own presence, and respond with compassion and clarity.

This one-day, experiential workshop offers a grounded and powerful introduction to trauma-informed practice in the context of coaching and leadership. It draws on modern neuroscience, polyvagal theory, NLP, and relational psychology to equip you with the tools, understanding, and presence to lead and coach safely, effectively, and humanely.

Delivered by Paul Kelly, an expert coach and trauma-informed trainer with over 30 years of experience, this session integrates real-world tools with deep emotional intelligence and insight.

Upcoming Sessions

What You’ll Learn

Participants develop a deeper understanding of trauma and its impact in coaching, leadership, and organisational settings. This includes exploring what trauma really is, how it can appear both overtly and subtly, and the ways developmental, situational, and systemic trauma can influence individuals and teams. The programme also examines common trauma responses—fight, flight, freeze, and fawn—and how these can surface in communication, decision-making, and leadership behaviour.

Alongside this, participants build nervous system literacy, learning how dysregulation manifests and how concepts such as polyvagal theory can be applied in practical ways. The programme also explores how leaders and coaches can regulate their own nervous system, create co-regulation and psychological safety, and maintain calm authority. Participants then translate this understanding into trauma-informed coaching and leadership practice, developing skills in boundaries, attunement, and presence in high-intensity environments, working constructively with silence and emotion, avoiding retraumatisation, and recognising trauma narratives within client conversations and team dynamics.
